Rubrik Hackathon 2021
I collaborated with the marketing and event team at Rubrik to build a bold branding and identity framework and translate the energy, enthusiasm and participation of a diverse workforce in the 6th annual Hackathon 2021.
I wanted to capture the event's innovation, creativity and inclusivity, along with the team spirit of the participants from different backgrounds and skill sets.

Goal
The marketing team envisioned a dynamic post-covid
in-person and virtual Hackathon event to amp up the social and cultural quotient of the company driven by ingenuity and collaboration. The aim was to build a solid visual system consisting of assets for web pages, banners, social, email and swag anchored to the logo.

Challenge
The marketing team wanted a fresh approach that would echo the Rubrik ethos of simplicity but rich enough to communicate a range of values that the event brings to the company culture. The tool kit should empower the marketing team users and event hosts to easily integrate the assets into an engaging digital ecosystem and make them available in attractive print designs for in-person.

Inspiration
Since this was an internal event, I could depart from the core Rubrik branding and rearrange the design elements to build a unique graphic language to speak to the innovators and designers. I tried to create a visual strategy that upholds the Rubrik brand principles but is not necessarily tied to the same imagery or illustration elements like data recovery or data security. Instead, I wanted to tap into the event's human element to extract the story's building blocks and the logotype.

I took the keyboard as the core visual device to encapsulate the fast-paced programming and design process.

Logo Lockups
I created a series of lockups for different applications. The horizontal lockup appears on the card designed to promote that its the 6th annual Hackathon. The motion lines from the logo are seen extended into the promotional messaging.
