Masaan
I worked on Indian Movie Motion Posters to be set up in/near theaters to serve as a promotional piece for the movie screenings - for example, Friday night movies. The motion posters would run in a loop and be uploaded on social media channels to reach a wider audience. These posters would capture the essence by abstracting and combining the most influential scenes and translating them into stylized graphics, typography, animation, and sound effects/music from the movie itself.
Masaan is a beautiful example of storytelling with two narratives running parallel to each other, converging in the end to give a meaningful and emotional climax. The story explores nuances of love and romance in the small holy town of Varanasi, India, with conflicting and heart-wrenching shades of casteism, bureaucracy, a negative outlook on sex, and father-daughter relationship.
